Some of his “road” movies with Bing Crosby were comic masterpieces. I like the scene when Crosby and Hope enter a tough bar in Alaska. Hope orders a lemonade and all the ruffians glare at him. Crosby nudges him and Hope growls “In a dirty glass!”
