Proposals for a new legal status for same-sex couples were published today by Jacqui Smith, Deputy Minister for Women and Equality. Under a new Civil Partnership registration scheme – registered partners would gain legal recognition for their relationship and a comprehensive range of rights and responsibilities.
The Senate majority leader said Sunday he supported a proposed constitutional amendment to ban homosexual marriage in the United States.
