The third female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss, announced her cabinet and addressed the nation yesterday. The cabinet was noted for its ethnic diversity in my local papers and Sunder Katwala seems to be the bloke to quote regarding this state of affairs.
“Politics has set the pace. We now treat it as normal, this diversity,” said Sunder Katwala, director of non-partisan think-tank British Future, which focuses on migration and identity. “The pace of change is extraordinary.”
The colour quotient of the cabinet seems a very superficial thing to note when a most challenging set of economic and political challenges await the new government and Labour is well ahead in the polls. There is little expectation that Truss, the wannabe Ir0n Lady, is going to deliver on her promises. Maybe it is not such a bad thing that so many expect mediocrity? Less room to fail?
By delivering on the economy, energy and the NHS, we will put our nation on the path to long-term success. pic.twitter.com/Y0wQwFQvWD
