Vote 2016

Muslim father to Trump: “You have sacrificed nothing and no one”

There’s a lot to say about the Democratic convention that just ended in Philadelphia, and the contrast with the fearfest that was the Republican convention the week before in Cleveland. Some of the most telling comments came from conservatives. (As President Obama noted on Wednesday, there is nothing conservative about Donald Trump.)

But here is one of the most powerful moments at the convention: Khizr Khan (whom I assume some people are now desperately trying to smear) spoke about his late son US Army Captain Humayun Khan, who gave his life to save his comrades in Iraq.

I suspect the surviving members of Captain Khan’s unit probably would disagree with Donald Trump about keeping any and all Muslims from immigrating to the US– or whatever his position happens to be today.

Update: The “microagressions” apparently consisted of delegates chanting “Hillary” and “USA” to drown out a loud handful of “Bernie or Bust” people trying to interrupt Hillary’s Clinton’s acceptance speech.

Don’t let the door hit you, etc.

As Jonathan Chait observed:

[H]aving unhinged extremists screaming at the stage beats having unhinged extremists screaming from the stage, as was the case in Cleveland.

Further update: More reaction from non-party hack conservatives.
