Naz Shah’s vision for the Middle East

Two years ago, according to a recent post by Guido Fawkes, Naz Shah shared this graphic proposing a solution to the I/P conflict.

Let’s look a bit more closely at some of the ‘highlights’ – or rather lowlights – of this ‘humorous’ proposal.  Here they are in full.

HIGHLIGHTS
– Israelis are most loved by Americans.
– Americans will welcome Israelis with open arms into their homes.
– America has plenty of land to accommodate Israel as its 51st state.
– Israel can have a real safe Jewish state surrounded by friendly states.
– America will no longer have to spend $3 billion tax payer money per year for Israel’s defense.
– The transportation cost will be less than 3 years of defense spending.
– Palestinians will get their land and life back.
– Middle East will again be peaceful without foreign interference.
– Oil prices will go down, inflation will go down, WHOLE WORLD WILL BE HAPPY

‘Apartheid’ is an accusation often levelled at Israel.  Now, although this isn’t the most murderous and obviously hateful anti-Israel graphic, it promotes an apartheid agenda of its own, implying that only Israel’s Jewish citizens would be transported to the US, leaving all Palestinians to ‘get their land and their life back’.  Jewish ties to the region – and about half of Jewish Israelis come from other Middle Eastern countries such as Egypt and Iraq – are erased.  In the penultimate ‘highlight’ it’s suggested that Israel is the sole cause both of conflict in the Middle East and of foreign interference, ridiculous assertions which both reflect and reinforce the disproportionate scrutiny to which Israel is subjected.  However one bullet point is quite revealing.

Israel can have a real safe Jewish state surrounded by friendly states.

There’s a sneer in that reference to ‘a real safe Jewish state’ but here there is at least an implicit acknowledgement that Israel is not surrounded by friends and is not safe, a clue pointing to the possibility that the situation so in need of a ‘solution’ may not be entirely of Israel’s making.  And although some think that Israel is protected by the ‘Zionist-led media’ it’s revealing that Naz Shah thought it was perfectly fine to make jokes about transporting, ethnically cleansing, Israeli Jews.

UPDATE BY LUCY LIPS:

The JC further reports:

The MP confirmed to Guido Fawkes on Monday night that she was responsible for the posts, said she was sorry and would be making a full apology in a statement.

Ms Shah claimed her views on Israel have moderated over the last two years.

In a statement issued by Labour, she said: “This post from two years ago was made before I was an MP, does not reflect my views and I apologise for any offence it has caused.”

The JC can reveal that in August 2014, Ms Shah also posted a tweet with a link to a blog which claimed Zionism had been used to “groom” Jews to “exert political influence at the highest levels of public office”.

She posted the article, titled “Colonisation, Israel, Palestinian resistance and…“, from a blog called Walk Together, which encourages users to “listen and share feelings, ideas and views about Bradford and the world”.

But the piece Ms Shah promoted claimed Zionism, “like Al Qaeda, was and is a political movement layered with religious symbolism”.

It continued: “Zionism used this and the colonial period to groom other modernised men and women of Jewish descent to exert political influence at the highest levels of public office by using the guilt of the pogroms and offered a solution to the ‘Jewish Question’ in Europe.”

The article concludes: “The reality is that through its historical and current colonial project the Zionist apparatus in Tel Aviv and globally continues to enact policies and practices that are deeply inhumane, that are unequal and have created physical realities that have left the mantra of Tony Blair precisely what it was meant to be an ‘(un)viable two state solution’.”

In July 2014, at the height of the Gaza conflict, Ms Shah posted a link on Facebook to a newspaper poll asking whether Israel had committed war crimes.

She wrote: “The Jews are rallying to the poll.” And then called on people to vote “yes”.

Guido Fawkes has a copy of that tweet.

Finally, here’s some irony:

Earlier this month Ms Shah wrote to David Cameron to complain that a senior Conservative Party member had made antisemitic remarks at the launch of a local election campaign. An investigation is taking place.

Ms Shah is a member of the Home Affairs Select Committee, which earlier this month announced it would investigate rising Jew-hate in Britain.

Further update:

And now she has resigned as John McDonnell’s PPS.

Ah well. Time to reset the “incident clock”.

Alec adds: She has assured us that her comments were made at the “height of the Gaza conflict in 2014, when emotions were running high across the Middle East”. That is what is eminently reliable about this sort of thing. There always is a misdeed by Israel to keep emotions running high. Phew. She may have had strongly expressed views of an anti-Semitic bent just a few months becoming an MP but not she has been elected, no more than necessary.

In one of her few remaining Facebook updates, she assured us that support for sanctions against West Bank products is not about Israel. Except it is about a total boycott of Israeli products.

As can be seen, she received disapproving Tweets a year ago and before her election but does not appear to have been anxious enough to remove a trail of crumbs.

The JC reports that she posted on Twitter a link to a blog comparing Zionism to al Qaeda. The blog – which also compared the foundation of Israel to European acts of genocide – is written by Bradford councilor for Heaton, Mohammed Shabbir and the article now deleted. Shame that means it is gone forever. Similarly themed articles can be found here and here.

Shah also has deleted the original Tweet. Again, gone forever. What a shame.

Nevermind, Cllr. Shabbir is a friend of the Jews.

This must put Galloway in a major quandary re those barking mad Zionist hyenas.

Sarah adds I don’t think this where she compares Israel to the Nazis – also via Guido Fawkes – has yet been mentioned.
