Soldiers aid British flood victims

Best wishes to any of our British readers who have been affected by the recent severe flooding.

I see that the government has sent hundreds of soldiers to the affected areas to help people in need. I hope that won’t give rise to idiotic warnings from the far Left about “occupied Leeds” or “militarized York” such as happened in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005.

Update: As the UK government responds to the flooding emergency, Nick Cohen notes the government’s failure to respond to the day-to-day crises faced by food-insecure Britons– and how the implosion of the Labour party has given the Tories a free hand to deal with (or not deal with) the situation as they see fit.
