Manchester University’s Free Speech and Secular Society attacked by hackers

The FSS website has been hacked following a chilling message that it is ‘soon to feel remorse’.  As they note in their statement:

The fact that a group as small and insignificant as us gets targeted in this way just adds to the sad reality that free speech today is very much under threat.

Hopefully their site will soon be up and running again. In some ways it is perhaps more worrying when such societies come under attack from official bodies. Earlier this year FSS was prevented from displaying Charlie Hebdo at the university’s Refreshers Fair.  And back in 2013 the Atheist Society was banned at Reading University.
