Back in 1964 Isaac Asimov’s wrote an essay imagining what the world of the future would be like, and predicting (accurately) major advances in communications and information technology – although some of his forecasts remain the stuff of science fiction.
Most of 2013’s predictions for 2014 seem either safe (Scotland will reject independence), whimsical (Russell Brand will not lead an anarcho-socialist revolution), or too inconsequential to care about (there will be a royal pregnancy, Zayn Malik will leave One Direction).
