I have written elsewhere recently about the BBC Trust’s welcome judgment on a complaint made about coverage of David Ward’s Holocaust remarks. In a bizarre twist David Ward claims that he welcomes the BBC Trust’s ruling. He manages to do this by ascribing comments made at an earlier stage of the appeal, by the BBC editorial complaints unit, to the Trust. In my Engage piece I refer to the way in which many people don’t read beyond a headline. I wonder how many readers of Ward’s website will follow the link he provides – and thus discover that the Trust’s final verdict has been misrepresented. There is, as @lsorang points out, an irony here.
