DCook, in the comments, requested a post about today’s attack on Tipton Mosque, to give everyone a chance to condemn this crime. My initial reaction was to think that there was no need for this point to be made, either above or below the line – it went without saying that no one could possibly support such an action, even if some commenters might wish to reserve judgment as to exactly who was responsible until more information becomes available.
But then I became aware of one person who seemed to feel no sympathy. He said ‘of course i can blame mosques. They allowed evil in society, now they are victims of it – justice served’. He also said ‘mosques fault – repeat mosques fault’, and ‘wow someone get the violin out – they got bombed for a reason – what was it?’ and ‘I have no sympathy at all for the mosques targetted. They made their bed, now they can lie in it.’ These tweets might seem to be the work of some pretty hardcore anti-Muslim bigot – but they are in fact the words of Asghar Bukhari, a founder of MPACUK.
