Statement on Lord Ahmed’s resignation from Joseph Interfaith Foundation

Official Statement from Lord Ahmed of Rotherham

As a founder trustee of the Joseph Interfaith Foundation, I have the greatest of respect and support for the excellent work of the Foundation in the very important and vital areas of fostering cordial Muslim-Jewish relations and confronting antiSemitism and Islamophobia. I have no wish to see any negative effect on the foundation as the result of the allegations made against me. Therefore, I am resigning as its trustee. I wish to add that I strongly hope that the allegations made against me will in no way affect the good relations between the Muslim and Jewish communities in this country.

The Joseph Interfaith Foundation

We wish to acknowledge and thank Lord Ahmed for the great support that he gave and work that he did for the Foundation during his trusteeship. The Joseph Interfaith Foundation is a national joint Muslim-Jewish interfaith organisation. We are committed to fostering engagement through constructive and realistic dialogue and interaction between the Muslim and Jewish communities in Britain. The Foundation also aims to promote a deeper understanding of both faiths among the general public. It goes without saying that we deplore any statement or action that may encourage or cause anti-Semitism or Islamophobia; our work bears witness to that.
