Vote 2012

Then and now

Trust the people, trust their good sense, their decency, their faith. Trust them with the facts; trust them with the great decisions…

Adlai Stevenson, who lost to Dwight Eisenhower in the 1952 and 1956 presiedential elections

So our guy lost the election. Why shouldn’t those of us on the coasts feel superior? We eat better, travel more, dress better, watch cooler movies, earn better salaries, meet more interesting people, listen to better music and know more about what’s going on in the world. If you voted for Bush, we accept that we have to share the country with you. We’re adjusting to the possibility that there may be more of you than there are of us. But don’t demand our respect. You lost it on November 2.

–The execrable “leftwing” cartoonist/writer Ted Rall, writing after Republican George W. Bush defeated Democrat John Kerry in the 2004 presidential election

I live in a nation of morons, ignoramuses, fools, idiots, dolts, and a$$holes. What else is new? They know what side their bread is buttered on.

You go through your day, mingling with co-workers, talking to clerks at various stores as you do your errands, talking to the waitress at dinner or the person at the fast food joint taking your order and you think . . . life and people are pretty good. How friendly, helpful, and useful they all are.

You forget that people are being paid to be nice to you. They might be nice to you anyway, but communist societies show that service people aren’t nice at all if they don’t get paid to be or held accountable if not being nice.

No, everyday life seems to be made up of fairly decent folks going about their business like you.

But the fact is, they’re mostly morons, ignoramuses, fools, idiots, dolts, and a$$holes; and have never had a profound thought in their entire lives.

Mark Butterworth writing at the rightwing website Liberty’s Torch after Democrat Barack Obama defeated Republican Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election

People are only nice because they’re paid to be nice? This guy is more of a Marxist than I am.
