Israel/Palestine

Not yet, anyway…

Jackie Kemp writes at The Observer about the protests and disruptions of performances by Israel’s Batsheva dance company at the Edinburgh Festival.

The night I was there, the show was stopped three times; the next night it was four. As an audience member, I must confess I felt alarmed and vulnerable. I didn’t know what was about to happen. The 82-year-old Dutchman next to me patted my arm and murmured: “This is not Kristallnacht. I remember that”.

If you want evidence that the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign– the organizers of the protests and disruptions– is anti-Israel (the only country in the world with a Jewish majority) rather than pro-Palestinian, consider: There isn’t a single mention on their website of the Syrian government’s murderous attacks on the Palestinian Yarmouk Camp in Damascus.
