Remember a couple of years ago when Republican former House Speaker (and future failed presidential candidate) Newt Gingrich said that President Obama may be following a “Kenyan, anti-colonial” worldview?
He attributed this “stunning insight”— the “most profound insight I have read in the last six years about Barack Obama”– to the conservative author Dinesh D’Souza, who had just published an article entitled “How Obama Thinks” in Forbes magazine.
D’Souza went on to write a book on this theme entitled “The Roots of Obama’s Rage.” And now a “documentary” film based on the book, “2016: Obama’s America,” may be showing at a theater near you.
According to the film’s website:
Emotionally engaging, 2016 Obama’s America will make you confounded and cheer as you discover the mysteries and answers to your greatest aspirations and worst fears.
To which I can only say: Gulp.
Apparently D’Souza argues that Obama’s worldview has been shaped most profoundly by the anti-colonialism of his Kenyan forbears. Unlike the more pristine American version, Kenyan anti-colonialism seems to involve a lot of black resentment against white people and demands for reparations.

Among the many mysteries which I hope the film solves is why the black family at 1:05 is fighting over a “Monopoly” board.
I’m going to guess that “2016: Obama’s America” makes its case about as successfully, and will have as much impact on the presidential election, as Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11” did in 2004. That is to say, not at all.

…D’Souza visits the Obama family in Kenya, showing up at the home of Obama’s stepmother seeking an interview and offering three goats as payment. It doesn’t go well. D’Souza and his entourage are turned down and told to leave by security personnel.
