Workers allegedly warned off meeting with MP

MP John Mann expressed dismay a few days ago at the prospects of cuts to the number of ambulance stations in the Worksop area proposed by East Midland Ambulance Service:

“Lives will be put at constant risk,” he said. “This is absolute madness and this announcement has been deliberately timed to coincide with the day the Parliament closes for the summer.”

It is now being reported on John Mann’s own website that staff at the East Midlands Ambulance Trust are being threatened with the sack if they attend a meeting organised by the MP.

Mann commented “Such tactics are common in North Korea and were used in apartheid South Africa and Burma to stop freedom of speech.

Under British law every elector has a right to see their MP on any issue and Mann is demanding a meeting with Trust Chair, Jon Fowler before deciding whether to demand action by Parliament over this unprecedented attack on British freedoms and values.

I’ll aim to add any updates as and when they become available.

Update.  The Ambulance Service has denied this allegation.
