Haaretz: Congratulations to Julia Neuberger on Becoming Senior Law Lord

Here is Haaretz’s story:

The senior rabbi of a London reform synagogue has been named as the U.K’s next Supreme Court president, the Jewish Chronicle reported this week.

Lord Neuberger’s appointment as the U.K.’s most senior judge was confirmed on Thursday, the newspaper reported, and will be sworn in to the position in October.

In response to the appointment, Neuberger, who is senior rabbi of the West London reform congregation, said: “I will do my best to ensure that it continues to play its proper role in upholding the rule of law, and applying and developing the law in a coherent and principled and practical way, appropriate for today’s world.”

Lord Neuberger began his career working for N M Rothschild and became a lawyer in 1974, the newspaper reported, before becoming a judge in 2006.

Here is a picture of Baroness Neuberger, who is a rabbi, but to my knowledge has never worked for an investment bank or been a judge.

With that long wig, they’re easy to confuse.
