Privatization fails again

What Venezuela has achieved in its prisons through incompetent and corrupt government–virtually uncontrolled gang activity, widespread violence and rampant drug use– the State of New Jersey has accomplished by turning over control of its halfway houses to a private company with close ties to New Jersey politicians, including Gov. Chris Christie, a rising star in the Republican party.

Conditions there are so bad that some inmates ask to be sent back to the state-run prisons, where they feel safer.
