Chadi Freigeh Hizb ut-Tahrir and the Evils of Western Music

This is a guest post by Ben Hazem

Chadi Freigeh, the media spokesperson for Hizb ut-Tahrir. made an interesting ‘statement’ yesterday. He ‘liked‘ a western song. The song in question was hosted on www.Mp3rai.com and it most certainly wasn’t an Islamic “Nasheed”.

Hizb ut-Tahrir – although a religious totalitarian movement – are a relatively “modernist” in that they like music. They’re also for shaking hands, and in the past even kissing girls when meeting them. It goes without saying that they’re in favour of stoning adulterers, killling gays and suicide bombing… but I digress!

Here’s the party line on music from a HT scholar. It goes without saying, however, they’re generally against the “western kind” that agitates the instincts as they say.

The song in question was “I Want to Know What Love Is”.

Surely there is somebody out there can show him? Perhaps this  is what is lacking in his life. May be this absence of ‘love’ –  or as Martin Amis would prefer us believe the act of love making – may well be the root cause of his embrace of harsh neo-fascism?

I would echo the request: somebody show him, and we’ll all be better for it.
