Christmas,  Hanukkah

Holiday music

Blogger Charles Pierce posts the original version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” as sung by Judy Garland in the movie “Meet Me in St. Louis,” and notes that in 1957 Frank Sinatra replaced the verse “Until then we’ll have to muddle through somehow” with “Hang a shining star upon the highest bough”– thereby changing the whole meaning of the song.

And for those of us of another persuasion (tonight is the fifth night of Hanukkah), here is a rather cool calypso version of “The Dreidel Song” as performed by a band of middle school students somewhere.

With apologies to Bill “War on Christmas” O’Reilly, happy holidays to all our readers.
