Gilad Atzmon: Honorary Raelian Priest

How many of you know about the Raelians?

If you don’t, you should. They’re a religious cult which makes David Icke seem sane. Here’s Wiki:

Raëlism (or the Raëlian Church) is a UFO religion that was founded in 1974 by Claude Vorilhon, now known as Raël.

The Raëlian Movement teaches that life on Earth was scientifically created by a species of extraterrestrials, which they call the Elohim. Members of this species appeared human and when having personal contacts with the descendants of the humans they made, they were mistaken for angels, cherubim or gods. Raëlians believe messengers, or prophets, of the Elohim include Buddha, Jesus, and others[2][3][4] who informed humans of each era.[5] The founder of Raëlism, members claim, received the final message of the Elohim and that its purpose is to pacify and inform the world about Elohim and that if humans become peaceful enough, they wish to be welcomed by them.

The Raëlian Church has a quasi-clerical structure of seven levels. Joining the movement requires an official apostasy from other religions.

Sexuality is an important part of the Raëlian doctrine. The Raëlian Church has attracted some of its priests and bishops from other religions despite having liberal views of sexuality.[6]
Raël founded Clonaid (originally Valiant Venture Ltd Corporation) in 1997, but then handed it over to a Raëlian bishop, Brigitte Boisselier in 2000.[7] In 2002 the company claimed that an American woman underwent a standard cloning procedure that led to the birth of a daughter, Eve (b. December 26, 2002). Although few believe the claim, it nonetheless attracted national authorities, mainstream media, and young adults to look further into the Raëlians’ cult status.

The Raëlians frequently use the swastika as a symbol of peace, which halted Raëlian requests for territory in Israel, and later Lebanon, for establishing an embassy for extraterrestrials. The religion also uses the swastika embedded on the Star of David. [8] Starting around 1991, this symbol was often replaced by a variant star and swirl symbol as public relations move, particularly toward Israel.

However, the Raelians have readopted the original version as their official symbol.

There’s more, but frankly, you’d be wasting your time to read it.

Two years ago, Gilad Atzmon – an outspoken antisemite who promotes Holocaust denial – was made an Honorary Raelian Priest. Here’s the announcement:

Rael, founder and leader of the International Raelian Movement, has bestowed the title of Honorary Raelian Priest upon British jazz musician, composer and writer Gilad Atzmon.

Atzmon, born in Israel, is becoming even better known for his writing than for his fine musicianship. His recent articles decry what he calls “the Israeli genocidal campaign against Palestinian civilians in Gaza” and Israeli brutality in general. And his criticism isn’t directed solely against Israel’s government and military forces. In a recent essay widely distributed on the Internet, Atzmon had particularly harsh words for Israeli civilians, pointing out that their “popular support of outright war crimes” included applauding the carnage in Gaza displayed on their television screens.

During the 35-year history of Raelianism, the special distinction of Honorary Priest has been awarded only a few dozen times. It is reserved for those who place the pursuit of truth, justice, love and equality above selfish considerations – including their careers.

“Rael was deeply touched by Atzmon’s essay, “War on Terror Within: The End of Jewish History,” said Ricky Lee Roehr, a Raelian bishop who heads the organization’s North American division. “He forwarded it to the more than 60,000 members of our organization worldwide and we also posted it on our online news site. It should be required reading for those who go along with Israeli aggression because they’re terrified of appearing anti-Semitic. Most people are so concerned about being politically correct that they can’t – or won’t – see the truth, let alone do anything about it.”

Here is the Atzmon essay which earned him the respect of Rael. I thought I might extract a few paragraphs to give you a sense of what it is about – but frankly, it is all dire. If you’ve read Atzmon, you’ll know what to expect. Jews take pleasure in hatred and inflicting pain on others. The Holocaust Religion, and the worship of “the Jew”.  Nazis. Fagin. And so on…

Rael continues:

Roehr said Rael is very concerned about the future of Palestine and has offered solutions.

“Rael has proposed a one-state, lasting solution in which Jews and Palestinians would combine resources and live in the same state,” Roehr said. “After all, they were living there peacefully together before World War II, and nonviolence is the only solution. In fact, Rael says Israel is in dire need of a Jewish Gandhi if it is to survive much longer.”

Roehr added that Atzmon’s writings have special significance for Raelians living in Israel and for those of Jewish heritage living elsewhere.

“I felt compelled to write to Mr. Atzmon and thank him personally for his powerful articles – especially this latest one,” said Leon Mellul, Grand Rabbi for the Israeli Raelian Movement. “I’ve been living in Israel for many years and I can tell you that what he writes is the truth. With all my heart, I thank him for proclaiming it to the world!

You will be surprised to hear that Leon Mellul, Grand Rabbi for the Israeli Raelian Movement is a loony. Here he is in action, on OfficialMashiach.com: the website that proclaims Rael as the Messiah. This is a taster of his output:

When I was in Jerusalem in March 1993, I personally handed you a file entitled Shagrirut Shel Ha’Elohim (Embassy of the Elohim). This file included a letter requesting a piece of land with extra-territorial status near Jerusalem, a letter containing information about Rael, the Mashiach, and the message from YHWH Elohim to the people of Israel. As you read in the file, our country will be destroyed and our brethren will experience another Diaspora if Israel does not give a piece of land near Jerusalem on which to build the Embassy of the Elohim (the Third Temple).

Grand Rabbi Leon Mellul has also found himself in trouble with the Raelian movement:

Rael has also sent his support to organizations such as ‘Orgasm for Peace,’ and has encouraged Raelians to participate in their gatherings – but only if they feel like it.

In that context, Leon Mellul, Grand Rabbi of the Raelian branch of Judaism in Israel, decided to organize just such an ‘Orgasm for Peace’ meeting, which was to have been held Dec. 21. At the meeting, he planned to promote an upcoming lecture called “Benefits of Sex and Masturbation,” which he and a few sexologists will present in Tel Aviv on Jan. 22.

In the lecture, Rabbi Mellul will show how having a harmonious sexual life can reduce violent tendencies. Such a benefit is especially needed in this Middle Eastern region, where ‘murderous spirits’ are exacerbated by never-ending hatred of ‘the other.’

Nevertheless, upon learning of ‘Orgasm for Peace,’ Rael demanded that it be canceled. He reminded the organizers that the Raelian Movement has never organized – and will never organize – any sort of collective orgy. But he added that Raelians have the freedom to do whatever they like in their private lives.

Poor Grand Rabbi Mellul!

Still, are you surprised to find that supporters of Gilad Atzmon are complete and utter wankers?

UPDATE: Mel in the comments below notes that Ilan Pappe is merely an Honorary Guide. How very disappointing for him.

Apparently:

Rael commended Pappe’s denunciation of the ethnic cleansing organized by Israel and applauded the way he encourages other activists to denounce the racist ideology behind those actions “without fearing accusations of anti-Semitism.”

Also:

“The world has been manipulated far too long by the Jewish community”

Commenters below note that the Raelians also made Norman Finkelstein an “honorary guide”. However, after being quite keen on  Dieudonne, they fell out and condemned him for racism.
