Piling on Mitt

After a leading Southern Baptist calls Mitt Romney’s Mormon faith a “cult” and declares the Republican presidential candidate is “not a Christian,” Rick Perry’s campaign releases an attack ad (with more of that wonderful attack-ad music) making the case that Romney (who dared to sign a law expanding health insurance as governor of Massachusetts), Barack Obama and even (shudder) Jimmy Carter are one and the same when it comes to health care:

The ad, in fact, makes a reasonable point: in an effort to appeal to the Republican base, Romney has shifted a long way from the positions he took as a centrist governor.

And boy, that “There are a lot of reasons not to elect me” is really going to come back to haunt him.
