Fatima Abu Salem is organising an appeal on behalf of Palestinian children in Lebanon.
We are soliciting book donations to be distributed to Palestinian children (refugees) living in camps in Lebanon. Our hope is to be able to collect a number of books by mid November, when a group of volunteers are willing to distribute the books to needy children. This is a purely humanitarian effort, stemming from the work of individuals who are not affiliated with any organisation. As such, we hope we can keep the online venue of this event free from political and/or religious discourse.
Please consider the following tips if you feel you can help:
(1) Please *** do not *** send any money. We are soliciting either books or gift vouchers to be purchased at local bookshops, for example, Librairie Antoine (see below for more information).
(2) We are targeting children in the age group (0 — 4 years). This is not to say that books for older children will not be appreciated.
If you would like to help, more details can be found here.
There is some acknowledgement of the problems faced by Palestinian refugees in Lebanon on PSC sites – such as a call to sign a petition here – but such coverage is hardly proportionate to their numbers, or the difficulties they face.
