The Left

The PSC is the EDL of the Left

It is entirely possible to oppose the particular policies of specific Islamist political parties, or the conduct of hate preachers, without inciting hatred against Muslims. However, the English Defence League – despite its claims to the contrary – routinely promotes anti-Muslim bigotry.

It is entirely possible to oppose the particular policies of specific Israeli governments without inciting hatred against Jews. However, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (as we have seen here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here), routinely promotes antisemitic material and views, including Holocaust denial.

Can you imagine the outcry if the English Defence League had a fringe meeting at the Tory Party conference? And if it were attended by MPs and senior Tory figures?

The PSC is holding a fringe meeting at the Labour Party Conference, this year, as it does every year. This meeting has been organised by Unite the union, with Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the ambulance-chasing law firm, Thompsons. It is supported by the CWU, GMB, Jews for Justice for Palestinians, Medical Aid for Palestinians, and Unison.

The speakers are:

  • Len McCluskey, Unite the Union
  • Michael Cashman MEP
  • Andy Slaughter MP
  • Mustafa Barghouti, PNI (sister Party of Labour)
  • Karma Nabulsi, Fellow in Politics, Oxford University
  • Steven Cavalier, Thompsons Solicitors (chair)
  • Hugh Lanning, Palestine Solidarity Campaign

Here are some Labour MPs who have no problem in working with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign

Andy Slaughter MP. That’s Daud Abdullah of Istanbul declaration infamy on the right.

Jeremy Corbyn MP, Richard Burden MP and Lord Dubs. This picture was taken at the Parliamentary meeting that was to feature hate preacher Raed Salah.

Former MP Martin “Tentacles” Linton at the same meeting.

Richard Burden MP again, at the same meeting, framed by Sarah Colborne and Ben White

If you’re a Labour Party member, like me, perhaps you’d like to go along to this meeting and ask these MPs why they’re so happy to support an organisation which openly and repeatedly promotes racist and Holocaust denial material.
