If reports are accurate, then the testimony of the relevant Police looks about as convincing as Constable Savage’s. The IPCC is investigating a claim of false arrest during student fees demonstrations on 9 December.
A 20 year old man was chased by officers after breaching a cordon, which could have been reason enough for a brief detention or caution (I am unsure). What would not have been justified would have been conspiring to bring each individual officer’s testimony into line for a non-existence offence (i.e. lying and falsifying an arrest), as audio caught by a sound device on one officer is said to reveal.
