Quote of the day

“I work hard to make a living. I don’t need a guy that makes more money than me telling me that I make too much money.”

Keith Lynn, a union carpenter in Wisconsin and one of the thousands of protesters against Gov. Scott Walker’s plan to slash collective bargaining rights for public employees. His comment can be applied not only to Wisconsin’s Republican politicians but also to most of the high-earning rightwing commentariat.

And Shepard Smith, bless him, has once again wandered off the Fox News reservation:

Smith broke down the Wisconsin protests for Juan Williams this week, declaring that it’s all about politics and union busting, and “to pretend that this is about a fiscal crisis in the state of Wisconsin is malarkey.”

On his show on Wednesday, Shep asked Williams: “Isn’t this just 100% politics?”

He continued that “there is no budget crisis in Wisconsin,” and explained that the controversy is basically about big business “organizing to bust labor.”

“If you’re against the unions,” Smith said, “you’re all for the Governor.”
