Earlier this month we reported on accusations by prominent US conservative Frank Gaffney that Islamists were infiltrating the American Right, and that this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference has come under the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Gaffney, deputy assistant secretary of defense under Ronald Reagan, singled out attorney and political activist Suhail Khan and a group called Muslims for America as the agents of this infiltration.
For those like me who can’t get enough of intra-rightwing rows, here are Gaffney and Khan in a joint appearance on CNN:
Apparently the Muslim Brotherhood’s control over CPAC is not as strong as Gaffney suggests. The conference will feature an event titled, “The Ground Zero Mosque: The Second Wave of the 9/11 Attacks,” hosted by Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer.
Update: Politico reports that Geller’s and Spencer’s event will be independent of CPAC.
