Members of Respect, MPAC and other activists met in Oldham on Sunday afternoon to discuss the possibilty of standing a candidate in the light of the removal of local MP Phil Woolas.
The general consensus was that unless the Labour Party select a new candidate, who would be good enough reject the racist and islamaphobic approach of Woolas and his ilk, then there should be candidate put. Judging by the record of the local Labour party machine, this appears unlikely prospective at this stage
.
A suggestion for a convention type process to select the candidate was one good idea, and whether that is a Respect candidate or not, is yet to be decided. But the campaign would an anti-racism campaign that would seek to unite all the communities in Oldham against the cuts of the ConDem government. The rise in tuition fees, scrapping of EMA, the threats to the NHS in the Greater Manchester area.At the end of the meeting, a handful of racist thugs marched into the hall, to try and disrupt the meeting, which included issuing threats to George Galloway. Participants in the room, remained calm and neutralised the situation, but a small scuffle broke out as they left the hall, they were restrained for a short while until the police arrived in numbers and carted off the protagonists.
While RESPECT was busy battling the “handful of racist thugs”, they clearly hadn’t noticed a rather more serious concern. RESPECT has organised a meeting with MPAC, the so-called Muslim Public Affairs Committee, which is run by Asghar Bukhari.
Asghar Bukhari is notorious for having offered to fund raise for the neo Nazi Holocaust denier, David Irving, who faced a legal bill following the failure of his libel action against Professor Lipstadt and Penguin Books.

Interestingly, there is a rather famous Kevin Watmough who, like Kathleen Watmough, has a strong interest in the survival of the “White Race”.
That Kevin Watmough is one of Britain’s most long standing, violent and notorious neo Nazis. He has long run the “hit list” website, Redwatch, and has been senior in Combat 18. Here is Searchlight on him.
Kevin Watmough went on to found the British People’s Party, whose Goole and East Yorkshire Organizer, Martyn Gilleard, was convicted of terrorist offences recently, along with possessing 39,000 sexual images of children.
Watmough certainly hates Jews. Indeed, his Redwatch site republished an article by the antisemite, Gilad Atzmon, attacking Tony Greenstein. However, the British People’s Party’s position on Muslims is equivocal. Two years ago, the People reported that Gilleard had converted to Islam.
However, the British People’s Party appears to promote a less nuanced approach to Muslims. Perhaps they like the religion, but hate the people.
Still, as far as Asghar is concerned, what really matters is that a person isn’t a Zionist.
