Obama the Kenyan anti-colonialist?

Do any Obama bashers want to attempt a defense– or even a plausible explanation– of Republican former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s comment about the President’s “Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior”?

Citing a recent Forbes article by Dinesh D’Souza, … Gingrich tells National Review Online that President Obama may follow a “Kenyan, anti-colonial” worldview.

Gingrich says that D’Souza has made a “stunning insight” into Obama’s behavior — the “most profound insight I have read in the last six years about Barack Obama.”

D’Souza’s and Gingrich’s case, as far as I can make it out, is that Obama’s wolrdview was shaped by his Kenyan-born father, whom he barely knew and last saw when he was a child. Perhaps that worldview was genetically transferred along with his skin color. According to this view, Kenyan anti-colonialism– unlike the more pristine American version— seems to involve a lot of black resentment against white people and demands for reparations.

David Frum, one of a dwindling band of sensible US conservatives, offers a reasonable response to this nonsense.
