On reading the chilling words of Mao Zedong– “When there is not enough to eat, people starve to death. It is better to let half of the people die so that the other half can eat their fill”– I couldn’t help being reminded of a moment from the classic 1939 film “Ninotchka” when the Soviet agent played by Greta Garbo arrives in Paris.
