Reuters reports:
Bailiffs evicted dozens of peace campaigners from a makeshift camp in Parliament Square in central London in the early hours of Tuesday, though some demonstrators vowed to return.
Last week the group, who set up camp in May, lost a legal battle to stay put. They had been protesting about several issues including the war in Afghanistan.
Police said there were minor scuffles as up to 100 bailiffs wearing orange vests and police officers fanned out across the sprawling campsite, dubbed Democracy Village, shortly after 1 a.m. It took a few hours to clear the site.
Good. As I argued recently, our real democracy does not need this silly display.
