An an Iowa tea party chapter has replaced a billboard that it put up that depicted Barrack Obama flanked by Hitler and Lenin. Where do you start with this?
AP reported that North Iowa Tea Party co-founder Bob Johnson said he and other leaders agreed with critics that the image of “Obama between Hitler and Lenin was offensive”.
Apparently using an image of a genocidal fascist dictator, who was responsible for the holocaust and the death of millions more, “overwhelmed the intended message of anti-socialism”. Really.
“They are absolutely right in their criticism because the image of Hitler just totally wiped everything else and it misrepresents the tea party movement,” Johnson said. “They were right from the standpoint that the image was not a positive reflection on the tea people.”
Not a “positive reflection on the tea people”? Glad we’ve established that. No apology, no sign that Johnson even detects the kind of offence that this image represents or the insult that it serves to those died in the Holocaust, the survivors, and those many more who lived under years of fascism.
