Since being turfed out by the electorate, George Galloway has been at a bit of a loose end.
He continues to tour and make “special guest appearance”, of course – as other Big Brother candidates have done for the year or two following their brief glimmer of fame. But times are hard.
Never one to be downcast in the face of reality, George and his sidekick, Ron McKay have a brand new wizard wheeze. Here’s George:
The star who shines brighter than all the rest on this trip down memory lane is Dusty Springfield – as fresh today as a spring field should be. And, as it happens, one of the many projects on which I’m working – with Scots writer Ron McKay – is a stage Musical, eponymously entitled Dusty.
Angels who read the Daily Record – and I know there are many – urgently required.
It beats working at my old job, of course.
Galloway’s forays into showbiz haven’t always been particularly successful. And I’d hate to be the one to tell George that, er, such a musical already exists:

Ah well. Here’s the Pet Shop Boys, with their 1991 track “How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously?”.
