Well, he is good at insults

I am no fan of the fringe UK Independence Party, but I am a fan of Denis MacShane, the Labour Member of Parliament.  He said:

Nigel Farage gives the average rent-a-quote MP or MEP a bad name. He has always confused personal insults with serious politics.

Nigel Farage , Member of the European Parliament and former leader of UKIP, is on Question Time this evening. Yesterday, he was performing for the European Parliament:

Some choice phrases in the tirade of insults Farage hurled at  Herman Van Rompuy, the former Belgian Prime Minister chosen to lead the European Council:

I don’t want to be rude but, really, you have the charisma of a damp rag and the appearance of a low-grade bank clerk.

The question I want to ask, that we are all going to ask is: who are you? I’d never heard of you, nobody in Europe had ever heard of you. I would like to ask you President: who voted for you?

I sense, though that you’re competent and capable and dangerous and I have no doubt that it is your intention to be the quiet assassin of European democracy and of the European nation states, you appear to have a loathing for the very concept of the existence of nation states. Perhaps that is because you come from Belgium which, of course, is pretty much a non-country.

Sir, you have no legitimacy in this job at all and I can say with confidence that I can speak on behalf of the majority of British people in saying that we don’t know you, we don’t want you and the sooner you are put out to grass, the better.
