As regular readers will know, BNP legal officer Lee Barnes is a busy man. He has, for example, attempted ‘to unite 11 dimensional M-Theory, 9 brane theory, the cosmological constant, gravity, dark energy, dark matter and the fundamental forces and link them with the cosmology of the Eddas and other Norse cosmological texts’. Barnes has also ‘cracked the answer‘ [sic] to ‘the origin of the symbol that is called the Ankh’, and taught us how to ‘unlock’ the ‘essential 7th Chakra‘.
When he’s not busy unveiling the mysteries of the universe, Barnes likes to turn his attention to revealing suppressed news and forbidden historical truths, many of which involve the dreaded ‘Zionists’ (who, incidentally, have apparently removed his name from the Law Society’s online database).
Naturally, I looked with interest at his recent post ‘Project Censored – the real news‘, which informs readers of ‘Project Censored’s Latest Top 25 Censored Stories’. Alas, ‘Project Censored’ doesn’t quite live up to its exciting name, as the Mother Jones site demonstrated way back in 2000:
These stories are allegedly ‘The News That Didn’t Make the News’ — except, of course, for the ones that did, which in fact include every article cited. The articles on this year’s list appeared in dozens of publications, from our own Mother Jones to Dollars and Sense, The Nation, and The Village Voice — all reputable and reasonably well-known publications.
The small print in this year’s Project Censored materials tell us that the stories it honors are actually ‘underreported’ or ‘undercovered’ by the general media. Of course, the corporate media’s flaccidity and vacuousness is a bad thing. But some grand conspiracy of censorship it isn’t. Then again, ‘Project Underreported’ wouldn’t sell as many books, get as much press, or make its fans feel as self-righteous.
Also misleading is Project Censored’s central assertion that the mainstream media has ignored the stories the PC team has unearthed. In the cases of the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th most ‘censored’ stories of 1999, at least one major mainstream newspaper, magazine, or television news program (C-Span, CNN, and the Washington Post among others) did in fact cover the exact story, before the publication that Project Censored honors.
So much for ‘Project Censored’.
What was more interesting about Barnes’s post, however, was the source he cited, namely Rense.com. Barnes, it turns out, is quite a fan, and the following posts from his blog all cite Rense as an authoritative source: ‘911, BAE and the Blair Connection‘, ‘The Bilderberger Agenda‘, ‘Immigration = Importing Crime / Terrorism / Murder Etc Etc‘, ‘Mexico 1991 UFO’s and the Shadow Government‘, ‘Gary McKinnon, NASA and the UFO hacks‘, ‘The Nazi-Zionist Alliance‘, and ‘The Carlyle Group – The Ultimate Corporation‘.
So, what kind of site is Rense.com? Run by conspiraloon and UFO nut Jeff Rense, Rense.com is the sort of site that anyone looking for credible information should avoid like the plague. Rense.com has, for example, interviewed, and promoted the work of, the viciously anti-Semitic writer Eustace Mullins. Here’s what Mullins has to say in his text ‘The Biological Jew‘:
One of the specialized modifications of the Jew is his ability to suck the blood of the gentile host without alarming his victim, weakening it without being discovered, through the highly sophisticated and refined instruments and techniques which the Jew has developed over a period of centuries for these specific purposes, and which have no counterpart in any other species. In view of these techniques, need we be surprised that some of the gentiles who have been most weakened by the blood-lettings of the Jew are among his most vociferous defenders, and who will fight to the death to protect their Jewish ‘benefactors’. They are totally unable to recognize their danger, or the insidious nature of the parasitic attack.
Rense.com’s promotion of Mullins is far from an isolated slip.
An article entitled ‘Ilya Ehrenberg – “The Man Who Invented The ‘Six Million”‘ recommends Arthur Butz’s notorious Holocaust denial text ‘The Hoax of the Twentieth Century’ and provides contact details for a neo-Nazi publishing house.
‘The Twenty Victories Of Revisionism‘ is the text of Robert Faurisson’s speech given at the Tehran Holocaust denial ‘conference’. In his speech, Faurisson claims: ‘Never did Hitler order or permit the killing of a person because of his or her race or religion’.
‘David Cole – Incredible Auschwitz Revelations‘ offers links to Holocaust denial videos.
Rense.com’s ‘Protocols of the Elders of Zion’ section offers links to articles claiming the notorious anti-Semitic fabrication is true. ‘Protocols Forgery Argument is Flawed‘ argues that the Protocols are genuine and that ‘the Second World War was a battle for racial superiority between Jewish and Aryan wings of the Illuminati who in fact are united at the top’, while a letter supposedly written by an Israeli UFO enthusiast cites the ‘Jew Watch’ website and encourages Rense to ‘take a look at how many governments are occupied by Jews’.
Finally, an article entitled ‘Why Are Jews Persecuted?‘ asks the following:
Why were they persecuted throughout history?
Why had the Nazis herded them into cattle cars and taken them to ‘extermination camps’ to dispose once and for all of the ‘Jewish problem?’ I suddenly recognized that if Hitler had developed a ‘Final Solution’ to the Jewish question, that there had to have been a ‘Jewish Problem’.
Rense.com is a site brimming over with misinformation, disinformation, pseudo-scholarship, and anti-Semitism. Why on earth would Lee Barnes want to cite a website like that?
Barnes has previously stated – in defence of his use of material from the Holocaust denial outfit ‘The Institute for Historical Review’ – that he would ‘cite the devil if he was the only one telling the truth’.
The problem with that, of course, is that the devil doesn’t tell the truth.
