Let’s celebrate the passing of an era

One of the reasons, but not the main reason, why I hope Obama becomes President is because I am bored to death by Bush-derangement syndrome. I feel a Palin-McCain win would continue this sort of nihilistic conspiracy based bollocks for another four years regardless of what either of them do or say. It’s quite clear that the Bush-derangement syndrome sufferers are preparing to transfer their delusional politics over to McCain.

Frankly, I’ve had enough.

I’ve also had enough of sanctimonious Europeans telling the US what to think and how horrendous their nation is. Is it the US pining for Mussolini? Thought not. Part of me almost wants McCain to win to annoy the usual suspects, but then that’s what they secretly want. They’d love McCain to win. It would give them something to get out of bed for in the morning.

So, here’s my Operation Clark plan. Vote Obama, call our bluff. Let’s see if we love you more after he’s elected.

Just as we were once all Americans for a couple of days post 911, we will all be so well-disposed to the US when you remove Bush. Perhaps for a couple of days at least, until the loons have worked out their cover-story for switching to an evil Obama narrative.

Yet, we are getting ahead of ourselves. We should enjoy the present. All the Bush hysteria will soon be sectioned to the padded cell of history, so let’s celebrate the genre with a piece by Professor Francis Boyle, who is a professor of international law at the University of Illinois College of Law. This summer he was pressing the Iranian government to take the US government to court at the International Court of Justice. Since then, he’s written this splendid article, entitled “The Bush Administration Is an Ongoing Criminal Conspiracy Under International Law and U.S. Domestic Law“. Delicious, isn’t it? Remember as you read it, that this man is a Professor of International Law, the pinnacle of academic life.

President Bush Jr. terrorized the entire world with the threat of World War III if he could not work his illegal will upon Iran. It is my opinion that the Bush administration is fully prepared to use tactical nuclear weapons against Muslim and Arab states and peoples in order to break the taboo of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After the terrible tragedy of September 11, 2001 the United States of America has vilified and demonized Muslims and Arabs almost to the same extent that America inflicted upon the Japanese and Japanese Americans after Pearl Harbor. As the Nazis had previously demonstrated with respect to the Jews, a government must first dehumanize and scapegoat a race of people before its citizens will tolerate if not approve their elimination: witness Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In post -9/11 America we are directly confronted with the prospect of a nuclear war of extermination conducted by our White Racist Judeo-Christian Power Elite against Peoples of Color in the Muslim and Arab worlds in order to steal their oil and gas. The Crusades all over again. But this time nuclear Armageddon stares all of humankind right in the face!

We American lawyers must be inspired by the stunning example set by those heroic Pakistani lawyers who led the successful struggle against the brutal Bush-supported Musharraf military dictatorship in Pakistan. We American lawyers must now lead the fight against the Bush dictatorship and empire! This is our Nuremberg Moment!

This appears to be the text Professor Boyle’s planned presentation at THE “JUSTICE ROBERT H. JACKSON CONFERENCE”:PLANNING FOR THE PROSECUTION OF HIGH LEVEL AMERICAN WAR CRIMINALS. It starts on the 13th of September, so there’s still time to go if you fancy a weekend in Andover, Massachusetts. I challenge you to find entertainment of this quality for the paltry sum of $125 elsewhere.

Philippe Sands, of University College London and author of Lawless World, is apparently speaking there. How pleasing that the UK can have a presence at this prestigious conference.
