Fisticuffs, Respect… in the same sentence again.

“A 56-year-old man was arrested and is presently in custody regarding an incident in Brick Lane on August 10.  He was arrested on suspicion of common assault and witness intimidation.”

That’s according to The Metropolitan Police. The 56 year old man is, according to the East London Advertiser, Azmal Hussain – one of MP George Galloway’s financial backers and the chair of his Tower Hamlets Respect Party. It was at Mr Hussain’s restaurant in Brick Lane that Respect celebrated George Galloway’s victory over Oona King.

Common assault and witness intimidation, eh? I look forward to the juicy details being made public.
