Is Waltham Forest London’s most rotten borough?
First we saw the unedifying spectacle of Labour’s Miranda Grell stripped of her office after being found guilty of smearing her opponent as a paedophile.
Then, before the Lib Dems could raise two fingers to Labour, one of their own councillors, Imran Abrahim, was found guilty of assaulting his teenage wife. (Yes, councillor Abrahim actually did have a teenage spouse.)
Then the Mayor himself, Liaquat Ali, and his wife found themselves in court for taking their child out of school during term-time.
And now Tory councillor Graham Sinclair is up before the magistrates on charges of benefit fraud.
Clearly the trees of Waltham provide cover for some seriously shady goings-on.
