As far as I can tell, this is from a legitimate performance of the legitimate opera-ballet “Les Indes Galantes,” written by the legitimate French composer Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764).
I hate (well, sort of) to come across as a philistine, but can any of the opera-ballet lovers among our readers explain why we should watch this without laughing at the sheer weirdness and absurdity of it?
