Doughnut Boy Andy has posted about a small demonstration in Berlin demanding the release of Iranian union leader Mansour Osanloo.
Of course if there was a genuine and healthy Left, there would have been hundreds or thousands there and in similar demonstrations throughout the world.
These days, however, any criticism of the Iranian regime is taken by some as equivalent to calling for an invasion of the country. Besides, Iran “has suffered greatly at the hands of the U.S.” and been forced to submit “to the most intrusive and humiliating inspections” of its nuclear facilities. And despite his flaws, President Ahmadinejad was chosen in a free election and has overwhelming popular support. And Iran is supporting the brave freedom figthters of Hezbollah. And we anti-imperialists must stick together. Etc., etc.
