It’s National Hate the Neighbour Day in Loonyland:
Libya cut off telephone calls from abroad to mark a “day of struggle” to denounce crimes committed by Italy during its occupation. A message in Arabic and English told callers: “Communications are interrupted to denounce the odious crimes committed by the Italians against the Libyan people.”
Not reflected in the online version is the even more bizarre news that the Italian Foreign minister had apparently complained to Colonel Gaddafi about this annual hate-fest in 2004 and had been told it was going to be changed to “A day of friendship with the Italian people”. Presumably they just never got round to it.
