For readers not familiar with Medialens it’s the website where unemployed Media Studies graduates hang out to display their letters to “corporate” journalists who don’t take Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein and George Monbiot as seriously as Medialensers think they should.

On the Medialens website readers may view a very detailed debate about the Lancet study on mortality in Iraq between Les Roberts and various critics – many from the Independent. Why don’t we see that debate in the Independent? Doesn’t that speak volumes about the stranglehold elites have on public debate even in the UK’s “independent” newspapers?
