Don’t Vote in Iraq says al Zarqawi
Don’t Vote in the United Kingdom says the Saviour Sect
Don’t Vote in Italy says the Vatican.
Before any wag points it out, there is of course a difference of degree between Zarqawi and the Saviour Sect, and between the Saviour Sect and the Vatican. The Vatican is not threatening violence against voters.
Nevertheless, both radical islamists and the Vatican share a theologically driven contempt for democracy, which manifests itself both in the active undermining of the democratic process and in attempts to thwart the product of democracy when the result is not to their liking.
