Those of us who were disheartened by the depressing defection of Stephen Wilkinson, Labour’s candidate for Ribble Valley, to the Liberal Democrats are cheered this morning by the re-defection of Paul Marsden MP to the Labour Party.
Marsden, an accomplished poet, who left Labour in 2001, appears to have woken upto the depressing truth that a vote for the Liberal Democrats would “let the Tories in by the back door”. In an uncharacteristic moment of clarity, Marsden observed that the Tories in power would impose savage cuts” on public services.
