Lets not forget that when people give their backing to the so-called ‘resistance’ in Iraq, it is not some abstract point of ideological debate but acts such as the murder of trade union leader Hadi Salih that they are giving their support to.
Although there have been some anti-war trade unionists such as Mick Rix who made a stand for basic principles and quit the Stop the War Coalition, there are still trade unionists who are leading members of the STWC and even proudly announce their union membership.
Its surely time that decent trade unionists made sure that their union is not funding or supporting the STWC in any way and take action to end any financing of an enemy of the labour movement.
