Well the Sunday papers are full of the Blunkett affair again. The issue has dominated the press over the past week yet browsing through the British blogs it hardly gets a mention. I can’t help but wonder why?
Speaking for myself there are two reasons why the Blunkett affair hasn’t featured on this site. Firstly, I don’t know anything about it other than what I have read in the papers. Secondly, I’m not entirely sure I care.
Sure, from a journalistic point of view I can see why it is a good story. Of course it is a good story. it has all the ingredients – senior politician, love, betrayal, court case, claims of mispractice, woman, nanny, social class, calls for resignation, husband, kids and conflict.
So its odd that blogs, written by people who take a great interest in the news and politics, are ignoring the story.
Well apart from this blogger of course.
I wonder, are the regulars at your pub talking about the Blunkett case or is this one of those stories which interests journalists far more than their readers?
