I’m not a big rugby fan but I watched this morning’s final and it was of course an outstanding match and not only for the victory. What struck me most was the end of the game – the dignified way in which the players celebrated victory and accepted defeat.
Aside from the fact that England are now world champions it has to be said that the Rugby World Cup and the final in particular has been a lesson to many other sports, football especially, in what true sporting values are about.
